Hello, Friend!
Ten years ago this month, I was unpacking and settling us into our new house on Fort Knox. My daughter Kaylee was fully moved in to her apartment right off of the campus of University of Kentucky, and my two boys were in their first week in their new school. I'd joined a Bible study group on post and had gone to a couple of meetings and had started making really good friends (friends I still have to this day). I was LOVING our new community.
However, I also had a looming deadline. I had to write a book about a hidden identity to go into a box set with several other Christian romance authors. Only, my days were full of unpacking, setting up rooms, socializing with the other wives, and feeding Gregg's work friends he brought home for lunch a couple of times a week. I just didn't want to write.
I told Gregg that I thought I might just stop writing and focus on homemaking for a while. He said, "Yeah, I think I'll quit my job, too." 
(He didn't care if I didn't work and just focused on homemaking, but he and I both knew God wasn't done with my writing yet.)
So I said, "Fine!" And sat down at my computer - three weeks from the deadline - and started typing. Rather angrily and rather annoyingly typing.
Funny thing happened - this book about hidden identity that I had only 3 weeks to write and get edited actually ended up being a very good book. My editor told me it was one of the best I'd ever written. My hidden identity incorporated the Russian mafia, sex trade, and witness protection. Leave it to Hallee Bridgeman, eh!?
On the Ropes is a standalone, so it tends to get overlooked when I'm doing marketing or sales. In fact, I don't think I've EVER put it on sale.
