Hallee Cooks! Homemade Mayonnaise

Hallee Cooks! Homemade Mayonnaise

Homemade Mayonnaise is so easy! Here is the recipe:
1 egg
1 cup oil (I use avocado oil)
1 TBS white vinegar
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp salt
some pepper or cayenne to taste

Place the blade of an immersion blender over the yolk of the egg and begin mixing, pulling up on the blade as you go. Continue up and down until it's fully blended and thickened.

What if I don't have an immersion blender? You don't need one! A hand mixer or a whisk will work fine. Use JUST THE YOLK and mix everything but the oil. Then SLOWLY beat in the oil. Here are the instructions: www.halleethehomemaker.com/2009/09/mayonnaise/

What if I don't want to consume raw eggs? Completely understandable. Here are instructions on how to pasteurize an egg: http://www.halleethehomemaker.com/2010/01/how-to-pasteurize-an-egg/
