“Team Jacob” Cupcakes

A friend’s 8-year-old daughter asked for a “Jacob” cake. For a bunch of second graders, I had to be a little more inventive, so here’s what I came up with: a frosted werewolf face on a plain cupcake.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings: 1 cupcake (multiply as needed)
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Calories: 19

Ingredients

  • 1 plain cupcake (chocolate or yellow)
  • Delectable Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
  • white frosting
  • 1 regular brown M&M
  • 2 red mini M&Ms
  • 1 red gumdrop, any size
  • sugar, for rolling

Method

  1. Take a plain cupcake. I think maybe chocolate would be better as a finished product, but yellow cake works too.
  2. With a star tip (I used #26), make a mound of chocolate buttercream frosting in the center.
  3. With the same tip, draw a line from the center mound to the edge. Repeat until you have covered the cake.
  4. Repeat on top of the first layer of lines on about one-third of the cake to create a “brow”.
  5. Put a regular sized brown M&M on top of the center mound as the nose.
  6. Put two red mini M&Ms on their sides within the brow as the eyes.
  7. Cut a piece off of the red gumdrop. (If you are using a regular sized gumdrop instead of a large one, cut it in half.)
  8. Sprinkle a board with sugar. Roll the piece you’ve just cut around in the sugar until it’s well coated, then roll it out with a rolling pin.
  9. Shape it into a tongue as you need to. Place the tongue under the nose mound.
  10. With a plain tip (I used #6), make teeth with white frosting.
